Your Christmas holiday plans probably look a little different this year, ours at Manna do too. In normal times, our holiday meals consist of a communal celebration which includes a sit down meal with table service, but due to the pandemic and our overwhelming priority to keep our guests, volunteers, and staff safe, we have decided to change the meal format to contactless pick-up and delivery.
If you are in town and would feel comfortable signing up for one of our Christmas volunteer shifts, we would love to have you. We have prep shifts during the week leading up to Christmas and final prep, packaging, and delivery shifts the day of. This year we served upwards of 800 Thanksgiving meals, with that in mind, we are expecting a big day.
We are requiring all of our volunteers to wear a mask, practice social distancing, and sign-up for a designated shift in an effort to avoid any overcrowding. As we have been successfully working with such protocols since the beginning of this pandemic, and we are confident that we can work together to make this holiday meal happen in a safe way.
We’d really appreciate any sharing of our Christmas plans, as we hope to reach as many people as we can who may be in need of nourishment and a little sense of community during this holiday season.
